Operation Hope provides information on how to negotiate with lenders, apply for loan modifications and avoid foreclosure.

 

Los Angeles City officials are encouraging homeowners who may be at risk of losing their home to foreclosure to use a valuable information service.


The City Council is also considering creation of an emergency loan fund that could be used to help home owners avoid foreclosure.
Available since April of this year, Operation Hope provides information on how to negotiate with lenders, apply for loan modifications and avoid foreclosure.


The national call center bills itself as the nation's leading provider of financial literacy and home ownership empowerment tools.
It offers mortgage loans, counselling and disaster relief assistance to individuals and businesses.


The call center is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.


The number is 1-888-388-HOPE (4673). Press extension number five to be connected to the mortgage crisis hotline.
